Welcome readers and writers
For fun we are going to be analyzing a poem this week
Finding a Poem Below are several websites to help you find a poem. When finding a poem keep track of your process. What drew you to a poem? Why did you select it? http://www.poemhunter.com/poems/ http://www.poets.org/page.php/prmID/59 http://www.poetryfoundation.org/browse/#filter_good_for_children=1 Dissecting the Poem. You will be writing 3 paragraphs on your poem. The format is as follows. 1. Why did you choose the poem, how do you relate to it. 2. What figurative language (metaphors, similes, alliteration, personification, hyperbole) are included in the poem? Examine and explain them. What Imagery has been included? What is its effect? 3. Your third paragraph will be discussing the mood or tone of the poem. 4. Lastly, you will be explaining what you think the poem means. Be sure to explain why. Polishing your Product The last step will be providing images for your poem. You will decorate a large piece of paper with images that match the poem and then you will be gluing the poem to the center of the paper. Do your best, you will be graded on effort and ability to explain your thinking, not if you got the meaning correct.
